Whitehouse: Racket

After just one year and there's another Whitehouse album. Does it sound like the last one? No.

On this album William Bennett takes a shot at playing live percussion instead of samples, and he does it quite amazingly well. That's not to say Whitehouse hasn't lost their noisy and disturbing edge. The African influence is alot more pronounced here, particularily on the last track Bia Mintatu, which also manages to sound like a Wagnerian battle anthem. Of course Philip Best's Consumer Electronics also released a vinyl album entitled Nobody's Ugly, both sides featuring atmospheric noise (if that's possible) and also Sutcliffe Jugend's recent This Is The Truth album sees them back doing extreme noise but a bit different and more varied.
